I was 15 when I started dancing and now I am a dance teacher; I teach different dancing couples.
My trainers:
I have learnt in different countries e.g. Germany /Landsberg Dance Camp/ There was Chezz Young /USA/ who is a tap teacher and choreographer in Las Vegas. My teacher was Chester Whitmore /USA/ who is the head of the Black Balett Jazz Theatre in L.A. He worked with Prince and Michael Jackson. My Boogie-Woogie teacher was Marcus Koch and Barbl Kaufer. They were the World Champions and are international Swing and Boogie-Woogie teachers. Bärbl Kaufer & Marcus Koch
Marcus won't ever give up. He is troubling with the Boogie Woogie for about 13years now and is probably the Boogie Dancer on top for the longest time. Together with his dancing partner Bärbl Kaufer he reached the World Championship and three times Vice World Championship.Since 1992 they are permanently travelling around the world and brought the Boogie Woogie to Scandinavia and USA. For their performances and merits they were tributed with the Feather Award in California 1996 and 1997 (The Best Global Swing Dancer 1996, The Best Global Swing Dancer outside the USA 1997).
Although they don't give up competitions their interest is also focussed on show dance. They had already performances around the world - alone or together with their show group 'The Swinging Hep Cats'
Chester Whitmore
This multi-talented dancer alone can probably fill pages with all his merits. Chester started out as a tap dancer in 1974 and for many years he was the protégé of the famous John Bubbles. He was also fortunate to have the opportunity to work together with some others of the true Masters of Tap Dancing as there are the Nicholas Brothers, Sammy Warren, Willie Covan . Today Chester has his own well-reputed dance company "Black Ballet Jazz".
Chester is a true source of inspiration in all his different occupations: dancer, composer, comedian, actor, choreographer, stuntman, bandleader, singer ...
He has also choreographed for many shows and TV-productions, and among the artists he has worked with counts Prince, Michael Jackson, MC Hammer, Sammy Davis Jr. and Lionel Hampton.
Jean Veloz
Some of you will remember the "Groovie Movie", a very amusing not at all serious "dance lesson" on Jitterbug, which for some years belonged to the standard repertoire of our history lessons Jean Velozis teaching Jitterbug with Arthur Walsh very humorously in this movie. She is the first female idol we won as a teacher for our camp.Jean won many competitions together with her brother Ray Phelps when she was a teenager and got film contracts with Metro Goldwyn Mayer. Jean was very lucky to have the opportunity to make films with dancers like Dean Collins, Lennie Smith or Eleanor Parker. You will find respective dance scenes in "Swing Fever" (MGM) or "The Horn Blows at Midnight" (Warner Brothers).Jean also had the chance to prove her choreographic talents in films like "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom" or "Valentino". In Valentino she was also responsible for the training of the dancers.Professionally Jean danced with Frank Veloz whom she married lateron. Together they produced among others the Frank Veloz Show where they showed Tango, Waltz, Rumba, Samba and Swing. Right now Jean is "assistant director" of the Max Factor Museum in Hollywood. Jean is already fond of coming to our Whitsun Camp again.
